The Zvolen Choir is the only of choirs in Slovakia maintaining continuity since its establishment. The formation of the musical club dates back to 1883. Since 1922, it has also had its own stamp with the Slovak text: The Reading, Singing and Musical Club at the ironworks UNION. The choir does not even break down after closing the factory and it sujourn also the World War II.

In 1959 it joins with the women´s choir to form a workers´ choir under the honorary name Mier, the holder of RAD PRÁCE order. Since 1998 it has performed under the name Zvolen Choir (i.e. Zvolenský spevácky zbor = ZSZ).

The choir performs in the Zvolen region, throughout all Slovakia but also abroad. The repertoire includes compositions by Slovak and foreign authors from the area of baroque and world classical music, arranged folk and sacral songs.

The Choir  is currently a civic association having about 30 members.
