Zvolen Choir at Present
The Choir is led by a head supported by work of an executive board and other Choir authorities. The personality of a conductor or a ‘choirmaster’, his/her ability to work with singers plays an important role in a choir. And, of course, singers with their interest and enthusiasm, who are willing to spend their free time singing, are an essential part of a choir.
Since the year 2009, the Zvolen Choir has been a founder, organiser as well as a participant of the ZVOLEN CHOIR FESTIVAL. It is held annually over 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) in the second half of the year. The Festival is a show of choir singing of secular and sacred choirs from Slovakia and abroad, of various age categories from children, youth to adults and elder generation. Songs of Slovak as well as foreign composers are performed during the Festival. Choirs can present all compositions they have in their repertoire.
In terms of international cooperation, the Zvolen Choir has cooperated with two choirs from the Czech Republic for several years, namely Mixed Choir of K. Němeček from Moravský Krumlov and Choir Association of Vítězslav Novák from Znojmo. There exists reciprocal friendly relationship. Mentioned choirs have participated in annual Zvolen Choir Festival and the Zvolen Choir has been an annual performer on the concerts held in Moravský Krumlov and Znojmo. Many performances aimed at seniors or disabled people take place in the house providing residential and day care and senior retirement home in Zvolen-Záhonok.

The Zvolen Choir is regularly engaged in town celebrations (Slovak National Uprising, Liberation of the town of Zvolen, the Matica slovenská), various secular and sacred celebrations and other social and cultural events in Zvolen. It takes part in many choir competition Slovakia and abroad as well. The Choir has a long and proud tradition of performing a wide-ranging repertoire that engages church, secular and folk songs of three centuries. Over the course of years, the Zvolen Choir has had many noteworthy performances and achievements and it is an integral part of the cultural and social life of the town of Zvolen.

Choir singers, participants and supporters enjoy the events called Ball (Dance party) of the Zvolen Choir started to be organised by the Choir only several years ago and the year 2018 was the 5th year of the event.
